Ventura helps raise $85,000 for La Salle, Manitoba – Community challenge funds going to children’s programs

The Town of La Salle, Manitoba will be able to continue to expand its community amenities thanks to the successful completion of the Ventura Community Challenge. Ventura Land Company promised to match any fundraising by the town up to $15,000. Together, the community smashed through that barrier raising a total of $85,000. The money will go to the LSCU Complex to be used to improve and expand children and youth programming and activities. “We issued the challenge and were amazed by the response,” said Tim Comack, Vice President of Development with Ventura Land Company. “The town came together and raised so much more than we expected.” In total, the town raised about $67,000 towards the fundraising challenge through a variety of activities including dollar for dollar matching program instigated by Ventura Land Company, and through the hard work and dedication of the LSCU Complex board members. “This complex is turning into an amazing community asset,” said LSCU Complex President David Brown. “The community did a fantastic job of raising money through this challenge so that we can keep expanding what we do.” For its part, Ventura contributed a total of $18,000 to the challenge. In addition to the $15,000 matching donation, Ventura also collects $150 on every lot sold in its Prairie View Lakes development, then matches that amount again, raising $300 for every lot sold. The goal is to use these funds to improve the programs and services, as well as supply vital equipment to ensure the continued use and success of the facility for the community at large. This year’s donation will be used to purchase wall mats for the gymnasium, acquire two professional grade hockey nets for the outdoor hockey arena, and facilitate better maintenance and snow removal for the outdoor hockey rink this winter. The LSCU Complex – which opened in 2014 – serves as the town’s community centre offering a variety of sports and activity programs and a wide variety of community events year round. Ventura recently announced Phase 3 of Prairie View Lakes, offering 43 building lots for sale starting at $84,500. The community has been selling quickly, which will make more funds available for the community to keep improving programming and amenities, said Comack.
